The Ombudsman received a complaint alleging improper conduct by a senior officer at the University of Melbourne.  The Complainant alleged that preferential treatment had been afforded to a student on the basis of his family's influence.

The Minister for Gaming drew the Ombudsman's attention to the receipt of US$200,000 by the Director of Gaming on behalf of the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authortiy, from International Game Technology, as a contribution towards the cost of an investigation conducted by the Director of Gaming, for the VCGA, into actions of that company.
